Girls-only School is The Best Model of Education

The issue of the best school system for children is a very interesting topic to discuss. There are many opinions and research on whether co-education or single-sex education such as girls-only schools is a better model of school system. This essay will explain the reasons why  girls-only school is the best.

Research shows that students who have academic problems are more successful in the study and exams if they go to girls-only schools. For instance, a comparison study  between 71,286 girls-only school students and 647,942 co-education students showed that students of girls-only schools did  much better on exams than co-education with 20% of the students did worse. The academic approach in girls-only schools is better in improving girls confidence. Girls can be excellent in anything and no body would complain when girls like boys lessons.

Moreover, there are many dissimilarities between boys and girls. Girls differ in the way of study such as they have a propensity to study in silence while boys are more energetic and dynamic. Girls also differ in the stage of maturity and enjoy different things from boys. Furthermore, girls are often controlled  by boys. For example, in  science classes where girls just record the result of the experiments and boys take the power on the practical side in experiments.

In addition, girls-only schools can reduce peer sexual harassment that commonly happens to girls. It might be correlated with the high interaction between girls and boys in co-education schools that could be a trigger to boys to harass girls in many forms. For example, in April 2013, there were 5 elementary school boys in South Sulawesi who sexually harassed their peer. In girls-only school, girls would be more protected from the risk of sexual harassment.

In conclusion, based on the research and ideas that boys and girls are different and require a distinctive approach in the teaching process and considering the risk of sexual harassment that might happen in co-education system, single-sex education is the best school system.
